The definition of you

In a developing country my career is not the best choice, that is what everyone else will say except me. I chose it, and I define it quite differently from everyone else. I am a graduate Landscape architect.  Most people will say my work involves gardening, drawing plans and producing 3D images, honestly it is not that bad, I just believe it is much much more. Thankfully, what they say doesn't really matter. For I know and I always say, Landscape architecture is the science and art of integrating and balancing human activities and environmental intergrity, both economically and aesthetically. It is more than gardening, more than urban planning and even more than Architecture.  Well this article is not about my career, it is about something much more, it is about you!

Before we go so far, I would love for you to answer you few questions,
1. Who am I?
2. What do I do?
3. What is life?
4. Why do I do what I do?
5. Does it matter?

In a course of a short period of time I have come to learn that, life is how you define it. I used to hear about this manta alot, but it has only come to make sense now, as I work through some difficulties to establish myself. Just because of my different perspective on what my career is, I have found myself working in bigger projects than what people really think I should be doing. And this is because I decided to view what I do differently.

It doesn't matter what people say or think. It matters what you think and say. For your words are a reflection of your thoughts. And your actions are also a reflection of your thoughts. And if you choose to think highly of who you are and what you do, then you will also act above average in the end.

How you define life determines your destiny. Your perspective will influence how you invest your time, spend your money, use your talents, and value your relationships.
(Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for?)

You might be doing something that is deemed unimportant or maybe people don't see your value. In all honesty no one will. People only pick cues from you on how to treat you. So if you think highly of yourself eventually people will too. I don't mean to say you should brag. All I am saying is think good thoughts about yourself, and your actions will reflect that. And your aura will allow others to think highly of you too. It doesn't matter what you do. I do believe that the CEO of a company is as important as the cleaning guy. For they do need each other and one cannot function without the other.
In the end, how you think and how you define who you are and what you do will be reflected in your actions. And great things are performed by individuals who believe they are doing great things and  they can do even greater things.

I choose to believe and define myself as a world's renowned Landscape Architect and writter, and I work daily to make that true. I hope you believe great things for yourself too.

Enjoy...................

And don't forget to answer those questions once more, with a better perspective, now that I have challenged you to think good thoughts about yourself.
