What do you want? What do you desire most?
We all want many things in life. It's such a beautiful thing to have wants. It makes this whole waking up to go to work thing more meaningful.
You probably want that car, that phone, that dress, that shoe!! And talking about these things, they come up with new things everyday. It is motivating to work even more hard. Who doesn't love having the best of the best gadgets or toys. Woow!! aren't we all waiting for that new Range rover velar or is it a VX?! I love jeeps, I know someone who loves the bmw x6. Another one is looking forward to the new Volvo. The list is just endless, so is the run to get them. And as fun as it is, I have to admit it's pointless and unending. Quite tiring I should add.
Have you ever bought a phone, and right after six months a better and an upgraded version (or so they say) of it is being introduced to the market! Well I hope you have, for you might understand the feeling, aaagggrrrhhhh.......
We 're in a very fast paced world, it takes only two weeks for Zara to introduce their new fashion line in their stores. It takes Samsung two months to upgrade a gadget. And it takes a competitor one week to come up with a better version of something you just bought. And we are so bombarded with marketing advertisements, that are so flashy, that our brains adapt to the idea that we must get what is being displayed.
It is totally insane. And in this crazy world, we all need something that is constant and never changing. And something that is mysterious, that we will never get bored to explore. And no new version can be created of it, since its PERFECT.
For me, only Jesus stands out to have better qualities than those I just mentioned. As for me I have decided that, I only want Jesus my Lord to be my only want. Whether I eat or not, get shelter or not. I want to want God only. To seek him and delight in him daily. I want him to be the desire of my heart (Psalms 37:4. Matthew 6:33)
Take delight in the Lord , and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 NIV
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33 NIV
What about you, what do you want? I hope you get all that you want. And I hope it fills the hunger in you and that you will want no more, to avoid you the never ending race.
Prayer: Lord this day, I want to want you more than anything in my life. You to be my centre, you to be the only one I desire, the only one I long for.
