BE PROACTIVE WITH INFORMATION.

"I don't like reading, and I can't remember the last time I read."
I have heard this statement so many times, especially when I am preaching about the importance of reading "Books", because yes I call speaking about the same concept more than once, preaching.
We read a lot, day in, day out. It is actually insane that most of us, testify of not liking to read. We receive all these text messages, all these picture quotes on social media, and all these facebook feeds and we read nearly all of them. We read, and read, consume and consume. What we surprisingly don't notice is that all that we read is absorbed by our minds and it affects our daily actions.
We click on links that flash on our screens out of the blue without judging if it is useful information or not, as long as we occupy our time and get entertained. Most times our clicks are on things we didn't really plan on looking at when the day begun. We know it's not something we need to see, but because we are acting on an impulse on a link given to us by the media, we do it anyways. We read gossip, useful and not so useful information, all without pre-planning to do so.
We become reactive individuals to all these information bombarded to us, without evaluating if we truly need the information at that particular time. It is certainly entertaining but it doesn't make it good for us, especially in the long run. It is time to get PROACTIVE on what we read rather than reactive to what is flashed on our screens, unexpectedly by an "AI"!
Since you want to succeed in life, you have to create a reading habit, "they say". The question is not if you have the habit, because yes you do have it. The question is "What do you read?".
We all read daily, I am just wondering why we are not as succesful as we ought to be with all the reading we have already done!
Well the answer is simple, read the kind of information you need to be rich and not just any information. Control what you feed your mind, don't click on posts unless they have the information to help you solve your now or next problem.  And I know "just any information " gets the "other guys" (content creators) rich, but it doesn't get you rich. You need to help you, not them, by devouring everything they write. From gossip that doesn't really help you to information that will help someone else but not you. Just stop it, stop reading everything and plan to read something as useful as a well coordinated book or a post that you truly must read.
Be proactive, Know who you are, where you are going and what information you need to get there. Select the topic you have to read about, select the book(s) and even a website that publishes similar articles, and go through the information, within a limited time and make sure you get well informed, and use the information. It will be totally unwise to get informed and not act on the information.
Give yourself a chance to get news updates when necessary, from trusted sources or at least different sources and see the correlation, and give yourself a time limit spent on news searching.
And if your only form of entertainment is via your gadget, change your form of entertainment.
Be proactive on the information ypu consume.
With Love.
Emmayana.
